As part of our commitment to excellence we are searching for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our technical staff. In this role, you will work with our talented manufacturing engineering team as well as other departments and our world-class manufacturing associates to assess existing processes and provide engineering and technical support to improve manufacturing yields, reduce scrap, and day-to-day production support for our Micro Channel Plate (MCP) production line.
The position requires a strong practical knowledge of the manufacturing industry and how it impacts safety, quality, cost, productivity, the process, and our customer(s). To be successful in this role, you will need to utilize your knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Some of what you’ll be doing…
- Improving manufacturing yields and reduce scrap through process and product improvements.
- Support manufacturing operations as needed to ensure on time deliveries for all product lines.
- Plan and coordinating manufacturing and testing of special product projects.
- Track, analyze and report yields, scrap and defectives as well as recommend, develop and implement action plans and projects based on these results.
- This position will also be expected to recommend and lead capital equipment projects.
- Provide day-to-day production support for the product line assigned to them based on the criticality of current business need
- Partner with others on the Engineering team to facilitate the transfer of new products from Development Engineering into production.
- Work with teammates to develop BOM’s, routings, fixturing/tooling and cost estimates of new products as well updates to existing products and processes.
- Support the ongoing implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and SPC into the manufacturing areas and will collaborate with teammates on product and process improvements to increase product performance, reliability and life, and reduce cost and waste.
What you’ll bring…
- Educational: minimum of a BS in an engineering discipline (chemical preferred)
- Experience: minimum of five to seven years’ experience in up-to-date manufacturing/process engineering preferably in a similar technical industry.
- Strong statistical analysis and SPC background
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to support all areas of manufacturing.
